When people find out my family is part of a simple church (house church/organic church) there’s a question that consistently comes up — “What do you do with the kids?” This blog is an attempt to answer that question by recording each week what we do with the children in our group on Sundays.
I’ve read several books about house churches and there’s usually a section devoted to children in these groups. Those chapters often contain idealized stories about how amazing it is to worship in an intergenerational setting. While it can be wonderful, often overlooked is the nitty-gritty reality of the noise, short attention spans, dirty diapers, and general chaos that can erupt at any time! I have yet to find a practical resource with ideas, tips, failures, and honest feedback about how it works in an organic church setting. Trying to pray, worship, and talk with kids in the room, or even in the next room, can be challenging, but it can also be very rewarding. I hope through what I share that those who read will be inspired and encouraged.
nice to see something of what’s going on there!
look forward to seeing more.
